And Then Their Were Five

Tim May has a nice column this morning about the honoring of the '42 National Championship Team at tomorrows game, and about Professor Tressel's ingenious way of keeping their story and their honor alive. You should read it.

I was fortunate to be on the sideline, four years ago I think it was, when they were last honored in the stadium. At that time, there were about 12 or 14 who made it back. Their numbers are dwindling. Tomorrow there will be about five present, and I am so looking forward to shaking some of their hands. We have lost some giants in these four years, Bill Willis and Dante Lavelli, to name two.

If you have never read Expanding Your Horizons, by Dr. Don Steinberg, the stories of that team and their amazing lives, you owe it to yourself to do that. It's is out of print, but I bet you can find it very reasonable through a used seller on Amazon. Get a copy and read about this group, who truly lived up to the Ohio State Motto, and Did Something Great!
